Nicaragua proved to be incredibly inexpensive. Transportation cost next to nothing, as did accommodations. The food was also relatively cheap even though we ate out virtually every one of our meals.
Note: Nicaragua was so far the least expensive place we've been to. We bought quite a few souvenirs and had to pay a total of $16 US in entrance and departure taxes. We also did a couple tours - including volcano boarding and a canyon tour. Given all those factors, a $39 per day budget is quite amazing. Surprisingly food once again was the most expensive factor.
