Guatemala: Cost Breakdown

Guatemala is one of the cheapest countries in Central America, whether it’d be food, accommodation or even the various sights and tours. Yes, you will pay $20US to get into Tikal, but places like this often cost a lot more to get into. If on a budget, this is definitively a great destination.

Guatemala – 11.5 Days$32PPPD
Transportation$71$6
Food$166$14
Accommodations$49$4
Sights$57$5
Miscellaneous$19$2

Note: As mentioned, Guatemala is one of the cheapest countries in Central America. Accommodations usually range from $3-6 per night and food, if you don't eat in fancy tourist restaurants, is also incredibly cheap. This may not be apparent on the chart above, but while in Antigua we could not resist to treating ourselves to some fantastic coffee on a daily basis and did eat out at a few (not so good) fancy restaurants. The transportation costs include a couple of "tourist" shuttles which generally are pricier than public transit.
